The Reverend Canon Rodney Bomford, 65, and gardener Paddy O'Neil were given approval by the church because their relationship is not sexual.
Mr O'Neil dressed up in a pink top hat with a sash saying "Bride to Be" at a "stag and hen do" in the couple's local pub in Devon.
The union coincides with the crisis over homosexuality at the Lambeth Conference.
About 200 primates stayed away from the conference because of the consecration of the openly gay Gene Robinson as a bishop in New Hampshire.
Canon Bomford and Mr O'Neil live in Modbury, Devon in a £400,000 farmhouse. |
